New York Cosmos Campaign New York Cosmos Campaign. Found this page almost by accident but anyone who remembers the NASL remembers the Cosmos. It would be exciting if they were able to get the Cosmos back in American professional soccer.

SuSE Update The SuSE update is still positive. The system is really easy to use. Installing anything that comes with the OS is really easy to install as well. I need to find a good book to learn how to get around in Linux. Still working on getting the web site up again. It hadn't been my top priority but it serves as motivation for me to keep posting. I was not able to set a static address in SuSE for my ebsite so I am back using the old web server I had on windows. I am going to be pulling an all nighter supervising the installation of the wiring in the Medical Office Building. Should be interesting to see how they do it.

SuSE Update As far as I am concerned SuSE is awesome. It has done everything it has claimed and as it said it would. Not often you can say that about a product. Now I am not ready to write off any problems after the first day. It does have a really good user interface and it seems to have automated almost all of the processes. This would be a good OS to learn about computing on. I dont think that the learning curve on this version of Linux is that much steeper than what there is on Windows. Lakers are going to spank New Jersey!
SuSE Linux Finally I may become a linux convert. As you can see from my previous post I had a rough time installing an older version of Red Hat Linux, I say older because I am sure that there are much better versions out there and I used a Friend's old one that came in a book he bought. SuSE brags about its ease of installation and plethora of applications so I decided to give it a shot. Now you have to remember that I started computing on Windows 98 and prgressed to 2000 so I expect most stuff to be graphical and easy, though I have learned not to fear command line stuff it is not my preferred method. The installation was awesome. First I installed Windows 2000, to relate back to if I need to, and then I started the SuSE install. As advertised it is a fast install and indeed was smooth as could be. The difference between the two install experiences was huge. One problem, mainly because I don't like to read the literature on Software until I have a problem, was that I didn't configure some of my hardware when I skipped the step. The books, as I discovered after having my NIC problem seem pretty good. They are easy reading and not very technical. SuSE is awesome once you get it open as well. The desktop looks more like something I would expect to see on an Apple than on my HP. I have been really impressed and if everything continues to be as smooth as it has been so far, this will definitely be a windows challenger. Tomorrow I go back to working on getting my NIC installed and Installing all sorts of applications I wanted to use Linux for in the first place. I will let you know. If you are wondering why I am updating at 3:00 am again the system didn't come up at work and I am waiting to see that the mainframe comes back up correctly. Go Lakers!

Update Well as you can see, well actually you cant now but will shortly I wiped all of my computer while trying to install linux on my second partition. It was depressing but hey thats what computers were made for right? To screw things up? I remember the old saying the to err is human, it takes a computer to really mess things up! I am hoping to get my old stuff back up in a short time probably tomorrow evening at the latest. I will leave my linux studies to an old beat up server we have at work. That way I dont keep messing things up and can still learn. Speaking of learning I am back at school starting my last two classes. I pulled a 3.05 last semester basically cruising along so if I can do the same this session I am done.got to run to class! Later!

Greed Well once again greed has gotten the better of me and I am stuck registering patients in the ER all night. You might ask "but don't you work in Information Systems"? Yes but since I am greedy I agreed to cover ER registration and pull an all nighter. This is the last time I am going to do that! I dont remember half of the stuff that I am supposed to do. This has been a painful experience. Oh well hasta pronto!
